Is it any wonder that Gracie loves her Daddy? Who else would run up and down a hill and up and down a hill and up and down a hill again and again and again, getting her airborne every time, in her red wagon? Personally, my heart stops every time I watch him come down that hill at what looks like 90 miles an hour with only a thin little black strap of a seatbelt holding her in. But, maybe that’s the difference between mommies and daddies – or at least the difference between me and Steve. I’m pretty sure that all the risk-taking
things that Gracie gets to do, she’ll be doing with Steve. Now, crafts she’ll be doing with me – sewing, painting, play-doh, and probably math, English and history homework will be all me. But, bungie-jumping, drag racing, riding the big water slides, and anthing to do with science homework will be all Steve. Yes, my heart stops when I see her coming down that hill, but it also skips a beat when I see how happy she is flying through the air, her heart full of joy and trust that her daddy is going to make sure she’s okay. I’m so glad that Gracie has her daddy to do exciting things with, things that I might never be brave enough to let her do. I’m glad for Abbie, too, who, by the way, took her first ride in the wagon with Daddy pulling and big sister sitting beside her. And yes, she tried the hill, too, although at a much slower pace
