My Little Marilyn

My Little Marilyn

We went over to the Eastern Shore to have dinner with Steve’s brother and sister-in-law yesterday.  The food was awesome and I, as usual, ate way too much.  Note to self:  Nursing entitles you to 500 extra calories a day, not 500,000!  Abbie was as calm as a summer day and Tim asked if she was always that quiet.  Ummm, nope – come to my house at 5:00 a.m. on any given morning and you will see that Abbie is a true member of this family – she babbles non-stop!  Gracie was a little shy to begin with, but she warmed up rather quickly.  She’s doing so much better about interacting with people that she doesn’t see very often.  This is a double-edged sword – I never used to worry about her going off with strangers – she used to cower behind me whenever anyone she didn’t know even spoke to her.  Now, she’s a lot more brave which makes me a bit more scared.  After dinner, Wanda, Gracie and I went out on the deck to look for alligators.  Gracie kind of has a love/hate relationship with ‘gators (I, however, have a hate/hate with them and have no desire to see one up close).    Anyway, my new Sigma 70-300 lens came earlier in the week and on the deck was the perfect place to try it out.  And Gracie actually asked me to take pictures of her, which I think is a first.  Usually she sees the camera and heads for the hills.  The back side of the deck was pretty deserted, so Gracie had free reign.  She ran back and forth from where I was standing to the back wall.  The wind was whipping up pretty good and as she stood against the wall, getting ready to run, it picked up her twirly dress and this is the picture I got:

(The journaling pretty much says what I said earlier in the entry)
